In 2001, Letetia Smith (founder), 26 weeks pregnant, experienced sudden complications that resulted in the death of her prematurely born son. The moments most memorable of her grief, were feelings of depression that lead to her social isolation, as well as confusion due to her lack of education regarding her experience and the options that were available to her that would have prevented the traumatizing experience from occurring.

 

Since that time, she has been on what she describes as a healing journey that has included helping others in various stages and life circumstances through her organization, Destiny's Leaders. In this segment of her organization that focuses on health and wellness (Destiny's Health & Wellness), her goal is to ensure that healthcare disparities such as access and equity of treatment are accounted for in each person's life.

Having been a cardiac nurse for over 10 years, Letetia has educated, served and facilitated health and wellness seminars on managing blood pressure, diabetes, medication and advance directives.

She has also mentored over 500 individuals in her community on how to lead through adversity.  

Letetia is a member of Faith Community Nursing (FCN), Graduate of Leadership Frisco class XXIII and a sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE).
